Hey There!

All About the artist

Hi, I’m Marieke — a 26-year-old multidisciplinary artist living in Groningen, a city I love for its creative energy, old buildings, and great coffee (which I love even more). Still, I often catch myself daydreaming about a quiet house with a garden, where I can grow wildflowers and make art with the windows open.

My work is rooted in curiosity, reflections, God, and a deep love for stories — whether they come from nature, someone’s personal journey, or my own thoughts and questions. I translate these into poetic, visual pieces using everything from textiles and vintage book pages to fineliner drawings, sewing machines, and sometimes photography or film.

Besides making art, I also love making music — and having deep conversations over coffee (or two). That’s probably why personal commissions mean so much to me: they allow me to listen, reflect, and turn someone’s story into something visual and lasting.

I’m a maker through and through. I love the quiet moments in the creative process — the layering, the searching, the surprises. Each piece I make is a small invitation: to pause, to feel, and to look at the world with a bit more softness.
